چکیده

A stochastic version of the Brusselator model is proposed and studied via the system size expansion. The mean-field equations are derived and shown to yield to organized Turing patterns within a specific parameters region. When determining the Turing condition for instability, we pay particular attention to the role of cross diffusive terms, often neglected in the heuristic derivation of reaction diffusion schemes. Stochastic fluctuations are shown to give rise to spatially ordered solutions, sharing the same quantitative characteristic of the mean-field based Turing scenario, in term of excited wavelengths. Interestingly, the region of parameter yielding to the stochastic selforganization is wider than that determined via the conventional Turing approach, suggesting that the condition for spatial order to appear can be less stringent than customarily believed.

The process of stochastic Turing instability on a network is discussed for a specific case study, the stochastic Brusselator model. The system is shown to spontaneously differentiate into activator-rich and activator-poor nodes, outside the region of parameters classically deputed to the deterministic Turing instability. This phenomenon, as revealed by direct stochastic simulations, is explaine...

Stochastic waves in a Brusselator model with nonlocal interaction.

We show that intrinsic noise can induce spatiotemporal phenomena such as Turing patterns and traveling waves in a Brusselator model with nonlocal interaction terms. In order to predict and to characterize these stochastic waves we analyze the nonlocal model using a system-size expansion. The resulting theory is used to calculate the power spectra of the stochastic waves analytically and the out...

Turing Instability and Pattern Formation in a Semi-discrete Brusselator Model

In this paper, a semi-discrete Brusselator system is considered. The Turing instability theory analysis will be given for the model, then Turing instability conditions can be deduced combining linearization method and inner product technique. A series of numerical simulations of the system are performed in the Turing instability region, various patterns such as square, labyrinthine, spotlike pa...

Stable squares and other oscillatory turing patterns in a reaction-diffusion model.

We study the Brusselator reaction-diffusion model under conditions where the Hopf mode is supercritical and the Turing band is subcritical. Oscillating Turing patterns arise in the system when bulk oscillations lose their stability to spatial perturbations. Spatially uniform external periodic forcing can generate oscillating Turing patterns when both the Turing and Hopf modes are subcritical in...

Stability of Turing patterns in the Brusselator model.

The selection and competition of Turing patterns in the Brusselator model are reviewed. The stability of stripes and hexagons towards spatial perturbations is studied using the amplitude equation formalism. For hexagonal patterns these equations include both linear and nonpotential spatial terms enabling distorted solutions. The latter modify substantially the stability diagrams and select patt...
